Resulta que en tiempos de los figus (Higos), que son los meses de agosto y setiembre, en aquellos tempus d'endenantes abétchadaus de fames ya mexeries (llenos de hambre y miseria), les xentes de mious aldinis diben correlus (las gentes de mis aldeas iban a venderlos), ou cambialus per comedera noitres aldines que nun lus teníen, ista mútcher del exemplu ñómabase Maruxina (esta mujer del ejemplo se llamaba Marujina), el sou home fora per lus facioxus achuquináu dexándoi dos guaxetinus de poucus anus (su marido había sido asesinado por los fascistas dejando dos pequeños de pocos años, y siendo ella de origen muy pobre, la fame taba tous lus díes almañecíus ya fasta nus mesmus xuañus dientru la sou teixá), el hambre estaba todos los días amanecidos y hasta en los mismos soñares dentro de su casa.
